Tip: On Bench Press Think “Heels In”
Here is a simple and easy tip to improve your bench press.
Think “Heels In”.
What this means is think about walking your feet back as far as you can and have your heels coming together as much as you can.
Think about pulling your right foot to your left shoulder and your left foot to your right shoulder.
This will do a few things.
– It will increase lower body tension
– It will give you a solid and stable platform for your feet.
– It will engage glute activation
– It will help you push the ground harder
As well not everyone has to bench from the heels, but if you are a powerlifting competitor this is common. Some bench from the toes, but a lot bench with the full foot on the floor.
This lower body set up may not work for everyone. There is no right or wrong lower body set up for bench press. The goal is to find one that works for you.
Give it a try and let me know if it helps your bench press.
