Try “Tempo” Deadlifts – Improve Technique & Target Your Muscles

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A great way to improve your deadlift technique and target your muscles more when doing a deadlift is by slowing down and using a tempo.

Working with a slower tempo and slowing down your reps has many benefits.

Watch HW Athlete Janine do a 5 second down, 1 second pause, 5 seconds up, 1 second squeeze at the top.

This tempo would be 5-1-5-1 Tempo.

Tempo Deadlifts have numerous benefits:

– Dial in your form and technique

– Improve Body Position

– Improve Bar Path (on Squats & Deadlifts you want a straight bar path)

– Targets the muscles much more than just going heavy and fast.

Try using a slow tempo and controlling the weight at all times.

Keep the bar close to your body and build a mind / body connection of where there bar is.

To hit your muscles be sure to squeeze and slow down and hit the muscles as hard as you can to maximize results when doing a tempo deadlift.

Don’t go too heavy this is not the goal with this exercise.

Give it a try and let me know how you find it.
