I Want To “Lose Fat”…Stop Saying These Words
“I want to lose 10 pounds”.
I hate it when women say that their goal is to “lose fat”.
I hear it from my female clients all the time.
When it comes to fat loss the first thing I like to address is the importance of how you think and speak about fat loss.
Let me ask you a quick question.
If you lost your phone what would be the first thing you do?
My answer is find it.
What about if you lost your car keys?
You would want to find them as well.
Why is “losing fat” any different?
I hear it all the time.
“I lost 20 pounds”.
More than likely when you “lose” fat you get it back, sometimes with interest.
Here is a better way to think about this.
Instead of saying “i want to lose 10 pounds” I want you to say the following.
“I want to be 10 pounds lighter”.
This may sound trivial but how we use words, how we speak to ourselves and others matters.
If you are “lighter” you are free from all the baggage that comes with the weight.
Think about someone that is 25 lbs or even 50 lbs LIGHTER.
Think about carrying around a weight vest that weighs this much.
Imagine the feeling when you take it off.
You immediately feel lighter.
You don’t feel weighed down.
Mentally and physically you feel lighter.
Next up lets talk about the “I want”.
We all want things in life.
We want a better body, more money, more success, more time, more freedom.
The list goes on and on.
But wanting is nothing more than a dream.
If you want something you need to make it happen.
So lets change the way you phrase things like this.
“I want to lose 9 pounds”.
Change it to
“I Will Be 9 Pounds Lighter in 21 Days”.
Which of these is a more realistic goal?
Which one is more convincing?
Change a “want” to a “will” this makes a big difference.
The next time you have a body transformation goal write it down on paper just like this.
“I will be X pounds lighter in X number of days”.
Remember the hardest person to convince is YOU.
Give it a try I bet it helps you.
