One of the worst things you can do for your lower back is excessive twisting. Add in weight a d it makes things even worse.
If you are going to do Russian Twists don’t move too far. Keep the range short.
The lower back (L-Spine) has a small range of motion. The lower back & core are meant to focus more on stability. The hips are meant to be mobile.

Keep the ROM small on Russian Twists. It will save your lower back and give you just as good of a core workout.
